My radio broadcasting career began in the basement of the Student Center at the University of Louisville on the campus radio station, which was about 50 watts and could be heard in the parking lot and was piped into buildings on campus – that was the old fashioned stream in the days before the internet.
However, my love for radio began in elementary school when I would sneak my dad’s transistor radio to bed and listen to it under the pillow… he still has that radio!
At Western High School in Louisville, I was Sports Director for the school newspaper The Sword and created my own radio station for a career theme research paper.
As you can see from the photo below, I didn’t get many haircuts in high school:
I am a member of the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association (CMA).
I’ve been nominated for the CMA Broadcast Personality of the Year twice and the Country radio Seminar (CRS) Music Director of the Year twice.
